transportation assets + project management
Homeless encampment and cleanup operation tracking
Data cleaning and management + large format map creation and printing for year-to-year comparison of unauthorized encampment outreach and cleanup activities.
The periodically-produced maps are used by MnDOT and other state officials for planning outreach, remediation, and deterrence spending.
Click here to see an alternate heat-map version. Both versions were produced using ArcGIS Pro.
Safety barrier mapping by location & type
A data-driven, 39-page map book featuring linear safety barriers throughout the Cedar MnDOT service area (central & south Minneapolis) symbolized by barrier type with high-contrast colors and line graphics to maximize the reader's ability to distinguish individual features in crowded interchange areas.
Route mapping for a proposed veterans suicide awareness march
A custom route map for a proposed Minnesota Vikings + USVA event to raise awareness for the risk of suicide among veterans.
The event begins at Camp Ripley and proceeds along the Great River Scenic Byway over five days with fundraising stops at local VFW posts, culminating in ceremonies at both U.S. Bank Stadium and the TCO Performance Center in Eagan.
spatial + environmental analysis
Dual solar + home geothermal site suitability assessment
[academic poster]
A study conducted with assistance from the NRCS that classified Hennepin and Saint Paul county private parcels by their suitability for solar power production and home geothermal heating/cooling.
The former averaged solar insolation data from UMN per parcel based on habitable structural area, while the latter average soil quality variables per tract based on a suitability analysis for home geothermal use prepared by NRCS soil specialists.

Twin cities MnDOT truck station coverage map geometrically-derived from highway-based line features
A work-in-progress mapping project that is attempting to create geographically equitable coverage areas for MnDOT service stations based on calculated proximity to their already-assigned trunk highway jurisdictions (which frequently overlap in complex ways at interchanges).
education + outreach
A promotional video I created for the distance learning program I developed, launched, and managed at the Minnesota Zoo.
Center for Interactive Learning & Collaboration Pinnacle Award:
2012 Honorable Mention,
winner in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
The Pinnacle Award recognizes CILC content providers from around the world who have received outstanding ratings on program evaluations completed by educators and activity directors. This year's winners represent museums, science centers, art galleries, zoos, aquariums, musicians, and authors. All have delivered remarkable quality educational content and demonstrated exceptional skill at program delivery.
As a platform, interactive video conferencing (IVC) presents unprecedented potential for reaching and fully engaging with new audiences regardless of geographic distance from your institution.

This map shows the over 170 individual schools, senior centers, and community groups (repeat customers, in many cases) with whom I connected during the four years I was running the Minnesota Zoo's distance learning program.
other teaching videos i've produced and/or edited:
Introductory tutorial of Esri's GeoPlanner collaborative geodesign app, using a model I designed to demonstrate the possibilities of group design to a group of county + regional parks stakeholders.
Instructional video explaining intermediate-level workflows utilizing the powerful Spatial Join family of geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS Pro. Recorded and edited based on a script developed as part of a group project.
A set of instructional videos on basic map making and spatial analysis (using Microsoft Office and the Social Explorer platform) produced while serving as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate geography course.
